Finally, a day without rain chances for Thursday.

Mostly sunny skies will highlight today, before rain chances return for the weekend.

MACON, Ga. — Yesterday saw a few rain showers scattered across central Georgia, but that will not be the case today. Highs in the upper 80s highlight your Thursday, with plenty of sunshine and blue skies to go around across the area.

A less than ideal weekend is ahead, however. Overcast skies return Friday morning along with rain chances with another approaching system. Rain showers kick off Friday evening here in central Georgia, with some thunderstorms being embedded within this rain. Overnight into the early morning hours Saturday could see another round of these showers with some rumblers embedded within. This will kickstart a weekend of what looks to be on and off rain and storms.

Saturday will depend on how the weather plays out tomorrow. Most of the stronger storms appear to be further to the southwest along the Gulf coast, which will help keep the severe stuff out of our area. Still expecting on and off showers and storms throughout Saturday and lingering into Sunday. Of the two, Sunday looks to be the better day for any outdoor weekend plans.

Some wrap around moisture could sprout a sprinkle or light shower to kick off the work week next Monday, but nowhere near as heavy of rain we'll see with some of the showers this weekend. After that, we'll clear on out and temperatures will keep on warming to try and crack 90 degrees again by the midweek next week.
